Voice and Text Message Scam Alert

There have been recent reports that people in the Albuquerque area have been contacted on their phones in an apparent scam. The fraudsters are using both voice messages and text messages as a method of contact. The messages will typically state that your debit card has been locked and that you must respond to unlock the card. Please note that fraudsters may also leave messages to call back.

The fraudsters are pretending to call from Sandia Labs Federal Credit Union, Kirtland Federal Credit Union, and possibly other credit unions in the area. Fraudsters are requesting debit card information along with personal identification numbers (PIN), 3-digit code on the back of the card (CVV number) and other personal information.

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND — THIS IS A SCAM!

Protect yourself by NEVER divulging your information to any stranger and ALWAYS contact the credit union directly utilizing a published phone number to verify information needed.

Kirtland Federal Credit Union will never ask anyone in a text message, email, phone call or letter for debit or credit card numbers, PIN numbers, CVV numbers or any other personal information.

It is REALLY IMPORTANT to know that these scam attempts are NOT the result of credit union information being obtained or stolen. Our records have NOT been breached, hacked or stolen.

If you receive such a message, whether from a text message, email or phone call, hang up and delete the message. If you gave out any personal information, immediately contact us at our published phone numbers, 1-800-880-5328 or 505-254-4369.

You may also choose to report the scam attempt by calling the New Mexico Attorney General Office at 1-800-678-1508.

Kirtland FCU also offers Identity Theft Protection.

BE VIGILANT AND AWARE.
