Vishing Scam Alert
There have been recent reports that people in the Albuquerque area have been contacted on their cell phone in an apparent “Vishing” scam. “Vishing” is a scam using the method of calling (fraudsters will typically state that your card has been compromised) and requesting information; fraudsters may also leave messages to call back.
The fraudsters are pretending to call from Kirtland Federal Credit Union and possibly other credit unions in the area. Fraudsters are requesting credit/debit card information along with PIN numbers, CVV numbers and any other personal information.
PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND—THIS IS A SCAM!
Protect yourself by NEVER divulging your information to any stranger and ALWAYS contact the credit union directly utilizing a published phone number to verify information needed.
Kirtland Federal Credit Union will never ask anyone in a text message, email, phone call or letter
for debit or credit card numbers, CVV numbers, PIN numbers or any other personal information.
It is REALLY IMPORTANT to know that "vishing" attempts are NOT the result of credit union information
being obtained or stolen. Our records have NOT been breached, hacked or stolen.
If you receive such a message, whether from a text message, email or phone call, DO NOT give any
information out and report the attempt by calling us at our published phone numbers, 1-800-880-5328 or 505-254-4369.
You may also choose to report the attempt by calling the New Mexico Attorney General Office at 1-800-678-1508.
After reporting information to the Attorney General Office (unless advised to do otherwise), messages
(especially email or text message) should be deleted and removed as some perpetrators have been known to use Spyware
in conjunction with their message.
We also offer Identity Theft Protection for our members.
BE VIGILANT AND AWARE.
