Like all credit unions, Kirtland Federal Credit Union (Kirtland FCU) is a cooperative financial institution, owned and controlled by our members. We display the credit union difference in many ways, including our Board of Directors who are elected from our membership to direct the credit union on behalf of other members. All board positions are voluntary and unpaid. Our Supervisory and Advisory Committees are also staffed with unpaid volunteers.
The philosophy of all credit unions is "people helping people." Each member is an equal owner, regardless of their account balance. As co-owners, members help each other meet their financial goals by providing a safe, convenient place to save money, get loans at reasonable rates, and receive honest, factual information to help them make better financial decisions. Partnered with our members, we work every day to achieve their financial goals and ultimately improve their lives.
As Kirtland FCU has grown over the last 50+ years, our spirit of cooperation and caring has developed into a culture of being a “Wingman” — meaning “We’ve got your back”. This sense of being a Wingman is evident in the way we take care of our members every day and financially support Kirtland AFB activities and other community events. Our employees care and are committed to supporting the community through thousands of combined hours of volunteer time and involvement with a wide array of charities and causes each year - see a list of some of these events and contributions on the back page of our Annual Report. We also endeavor, to the greatest extent possible, to utilize local businesses to support our daily operations.
Kirtland FCU made a commitment years ago to move away from a product-centered business model and focus on creating member solutions. Our objective is to provide our members and the entire community with a resource that offers free and unbiased financial information that sets the priority on a person’s best interest. We’re here for you. We’re Your Wingman®!
